All-Star Weekend
Michael was able to get into game 1 at Shortshop in the 5th inning and bedazzled the crowd, teammates, and coaches with his glove work in the 6th inning. He caught a pop up off the first batter. The next batter hit a sharp ground ball that Michael took a quick step to his right, gloved, and whipped it to first for the 2nd out. Just following that play, third batter up hit a rocket straight at Michael and he shot a rifle to 1st base for the final out of the inning. His teammates and coaches were swarming him with high fives. Of course, Melissa, Mom, and Dad simply watched quietly because he makes plays like that look easy! Non-sense! Who are we kidding! We were screaming with delight!!! Needless to say, he played the whole 2nd game later that afternoon and made many more great plays.

(As published in the May 3, 2009 issue of the Journal Gazette.)
A funny story that I remember about Grandpa Fry occurred many years back when Mom's (Diana) side of the family had a 4 person golf scramble. Grandpa was gracious enough to trust me with his golf clubs. I knew that Josh and Dad (Randy) were quite the characters but I was still unsuspecting when one of them stated that it was a Fry tradition to tee up the ball for the new guy. I thought "how great is that" until I swung and it was an exploding golf ball. Half of it turned to powder. (Of course, that means I didn't hit it square... 10 years later I still struggle!) Needless to say, although Grandpa wasn't there to enjoy the exploding ball, he was the former owner of the evidence and made sure to receive credit.
If you would like me to add stories about Grandpa, please email me at mail@wetterfamily.com.
Alto Sax
The saxophone playing legecy continues. I am very excited to announce that Melissa is going to play the alto sax next year at Bellmont Middle School. In a few years, she will be outplaying this old man. She is very gifted in the arts and should have no trouble.
Baseball
Michael is excited that baseball season is upon us. He is on the Red Sox and wanted to be number 63 for Justin Masterson (we are all fans now thanks to that young man), but settled for #11. We will let you know his schedule when it is released.
Old Man Section
Volleyball just started here in Decatur and I am still trying to recover 2 days later. Definately fun to play with old friends and new.
Easter Sunday
Recently we had everyone over for Easter Dinner at our home. Jamie, as always, was a wonderful hostess as she had everything working that day. The menu featured grilled selections of steak, chicken, and shrimp along with potatoes, onions, zucchini, mushrooms, asparagus, tomatos, and green peppers. Afterwards, we had a huge Easter Egg hunt with all the grandkids at Great Grandma and Great Grandpa's house. The grandkids' bags were overflowing with plastic eggs of all shapes and colors. Even after the kids were done, Jamie found 2 more eggs hidden in the bushes. We may even find more by July!
